As we age, our arms tend to become flabby and limp. But this doesn't have to be the case! Here's our advice on how to regain firm, shapely arms in just a few weeks!

Maintain regular physical activity

There's no secret to staying in shape and maintaining a shapely, healthy body: regular physical activity is essential. Try to find the sport that suits you best and practise it for 45 minutes two or three times a week. It could be swimming, aqua aerobics, walking, fitness, elliptical cycling, etc. The important thing is that it gets you off the couch! This will help you burn off a few extra calories and melt the fat stored in your arms.

Do targeted exercises

You can't choose to lose weight in your arms. Fat melts more or less uniformly throughout the body. Nevertheless, targeted muscle strengthening will help to give your arms an attractive shape, give them more contours and restore strength.

With a few muscle-building exercises on a daily basis, you'll already notice a change after three weeks. Perseverance is always rewarded! Here are a few moves to get you started:

Arm lift

Muscler ses bras
Position: Stand with your legs hip-width apart, knees slightly bent and arms at your sides.

Equipment: Two weights or two water bottles (maximum 2 kg to start with). Can also be done without equipment for beginners.

Movement: Start the exercise with your arms against your body, raise your arms simultaneously until you reach shoulder height and lower your arms slowly back down to the starting position.

Repetitions: 3 sets of 20 movements

Triceps extension

Position: Stand with your legs hip-width apart, knees slightly bent, back straight and arms above your head.

Equipment: A barbell or water bottle

Movement: Hold the dumbbell with both hands and place it above your head. Bend your arms simultaneously so that the barbell passes behind your head. Raise your arms above your head and repeat.

Repetitions: 3 sets of 15 movements

Biceps curl

Position: Standing with your legs hip-width apart and your knees slightly bent.

Equipment: A dumbbell in each hand or a water bottle in each hand

Movement: Palms up, bend your arms until your dumbbells touch your shoulders, then slowly lower them back down.

Repetitions: 3 sets of 20 movements

Once you're comfortable with these three exercises, don't hesitate to add others to complete your session (small side circles, forward bend, etc.). If you're really motivated and want to see results quickly, don't hesitate to go to the gym to ask a coach for advice or take a class.  But above all, don't forget to warm up before you start and stretch after each session!

Visit a beauty salon

These days, there's no shortage of slimming treatments to help you lose those unwanted curves. There are a variety of massage treatments to help melt away fatty deposits and boost micro-circulation. This is particularly true of cryolipolysis and endermology, which have proved their effectiveness on more than one occasion. However, these treatments are expensive and not accessible to everyone. Nevertheless, for those who are interested:

Endermology is generally carried out using the Cellu M6 device, which reproduces the movements of a palpate-roll machine and enables targeted remodelling. However, you need at least 5 or 6 sessions to see convincing results.

Cryolipolysis consists of eliminating fat cells using cold. It can be performed using two different devices, one with suction cups and the other with flat heads, which is more effective for small areas. Here too, an average of 3 sessions are needed to see results.

Radiofrequency works by heating. The tissues are heated deep down to stimulate collagen synthesis and firm the skin.
