It's dark, damp, cold... We're short of light, it's a difficult time of year. To help you, here are a few "anti-depression" tips

Every morning, as soon as you wake up, express your gratitude: saying "thank you" as often as possible helps you to connect with positive thinking.
Work on your breathing. Have you heard of cardiac coherence? Try this:

  • cardiac coherence
  • Savour: Slow down and "listen" to your sensations while you eat. Chew and savour with full awareness. What's more, you'll eat less.
  • Walk for 30 minutes a day to clear your mind and keep you moving and healthy.
  • Smile, because your brain will register the movement of your facial muscles and send out happy mood hormones.
  • Call or meet people you like: our brains are neuro-social and physical contact (such as cuddling) releases the happiness hormone oxytocin.
  • Give, help: altruism makes you happy. Don't expect anything in return.
  • Make decisions: this reduces anxiety: putting life into concrete action means you don't feel like a victim. Every step you take in a project moves the project forward.
  • Draw: drawing makes you happy, clarifies your thoughts and facilitates emotional expression. Why not do a little drawing every day?
  • Sing and dance: the body influences the mind. Dancing and singing give you a boost.
  • Turn off the TV and do a digital detox: start with a few hours, then a whole day.
  • Stimulate your curiosity: open magazines you've never read before, leaf through books on unfamiliar subjects, sign up for conferences you've never heard of before, explore new music, etc.
  • Get some rest. Lack of sleep depresses us and damages our health.
