JOY: an emotion that is created

Neuroscience has made it possible to discover the role of hormones responsible for feelings of happiness and well-being, and above all, the scientific evidence that we are able to produce these by a oriented attitude, an adequate diet, a hygiene of life and mind.
How can we grow these hormones, which are responsible for our feelings and our health?
It is a virtuous circle, a training, a gymnastics. The more you focus on positive emotions, the more well-being you will feel.
Open-mindedness and positive thinking training play an important role in hormonal chemistry. The optimistic and positive attitude are in addition to immunostimulating vitamins.
Practicing gratitude every day and wonder for the small joys of life also allow to produce these beautiful hormones, which are natural antidepressants.
Within the range of attitudes reinforcing these hormonal productions «well-being», there is also decision-making, the activation of a firm action. Hesitation and procrastination instead produce anxiety, an emotion that produces stress hormone, rather negative for health. It is therefore recommended to take action, seeing all our experiences as learning that develops and builds us and not as failures that weigh down our image of ourselves and reinforce the desire not to try anything new.
The hugs, the touch are also producers of happiness hormones: those responsible for our emotional attachments and our feelings of love.
Our daily “mission” is to cultivate positive emotions and make the most of our lives.
Fréderic Lenoir explains his philosophical vision of joy, especially through lectures and writings:
Is there an experience more desirable than that of joy?
More intense and deeper than pleasure, more concrete than happiness, joy is the manifestation of our vital power. Joy is not decreed, but can it be tamed? Provoke it? Cultivate it?
For my part, I prefer a wisdom of joy, which assumes all the sorrows of existence. Which embraces them to better transfigure them. In the footsteps of Tchouang-tseu, Jesus, Spinoza and Nietzsche, a wisdom based on the power of desire and a consent to life, to all life…
… to find or rediscover the perfect joy, which is nothing other than the joy of living.”
Diane Gagnon, a speaker and coach, inspires us in this direction and points us in the right direction:
Choosing Joy at all times is also choosing to fully embody what we really are. It is to follow the impulse of our heart, which never fails.
Faced with choices that seem difficult, we should always opt for the option that brings us the most joy. Whether it is for work, activities, studies, the place of residence, the choice of vacation, travel, every time we choose Joy, we can be sure that we are on the right track because it is the soul that speaks.
And even as the day goes on, at every moment, making the choice of Joy tells us clearly what needs to be lived at this moment. Of course, it is difficult for the mind to justify the choice of Joy: “Yes, but there is this to do, and then this… yes, but it can’t always be in Joy… Yes but sometimes some choices are difficult and Joy is not apparent…”. And yet, even a difficult choice that is guided by Joy leads us directly to this absolute state of Joy.
In fact, Joy is our best guide to all our decisions. And even if on the spot, some decisions seem difficult to take, beyond the passage to action, the resplendent Joy awaits us.
Unfortunately, we have not been taught to make our choices based on Joy Lived: we have been taught to be responsible, to “plan well”, to assume our social, family, professional obligations, And there have never been so many prescribed antidepressants in history. If we had been taught to always follow the path of Joy, certainly our lives would have been very different, lighter, softer, simpler and the world itself would already be brighter.
But it’s never too late to start. From now on, if we can give up the control of our mind over all our choices and instead leave this Pure Joy that we are guiding us in all our decisions, that problems we will avoid! How light we will bring into our life! How joyful we will bring to the world!
"Choosing Joy is always the right path… whatever the mind thinks!” Diane Gagnon
